World Book Night 2018 was celebrated in style at the Deptford Lounge by an open mic event in the Library
The event was hosted by Sandra Agard and the Librarians who work at this bustling community library in the heart of Deptford in Lewisham.
Guests and members of the public were asked to sign up for World Book Night 2018 to read their own or favourite piece of literature and a book swap also took place.
Emit & Erica were invited along to read from the book “Emit The Multi-Coloured Lion and Erica Get Ready for Big School” by Gradle Gardner Martin, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. With some help from Sandra Agard who contributed with some very good loud roaring, Gradle gave an example of reading and using the hand puppet and doll to show how our transition resource is used by early years professionals, parents and story tellers to bring the story to life and help with starting school.

Books excerpts read out at this great World Book Night 2018 event also included “Kindred” by Octavia Butler, “Their eyes were watching god” by Zora Neal Hurston, poetry and shout outs for good reads such as “Nought and Crosses” by Malorie Blackman and “48 Laws of Power” by Robert Green.
