Translating Heritage: A Vietnamese Poetry Showcase

Deptford’s vibrant local Vietnamese community presents translated poems from different generations of Vietnamese poets.

Join us for a vibrant showcase of poetry born from a unique journey of collaboration and translation.

Experience the powerful voices of Vietnamese poetry, brought to life by participants who have been working with The Poetry Translation Centre and Vietnamese Family Partnership -Gia Đình Việt. Guided by translators April Yee, Quỳnh Nguyễn, and Phương Anh Nguyễn, these participants have explored culture, language, and creativity through the art of translation.

Whether you’re part of the Vietnamese community or simply a lover of literature, come along for a celebration of language, heritage, and community.

Access information:

  • All of our in-person events Friday through Sunday, including this one, will be BSL-interpreted for audiences that require it. When booking your free ticket for workshops, you will be asked if you require the services of a BSL interpreter. We will arrange for an interpreter to be there for all workshops where one or more attendees require BSL interpretation.
  • This event is wheelchair accessible, with accessible toilets.
  • Deptford Lounge has Changing Place facilities, an induction loop and assistance dogs are welcome. For more information: deptfordlounge.org.uk/access
  • During the day, Deptford Lounge’s first-floor Music Room offers a quiet space.
