As part of the British Council’s 2023 Season in Viet Nam, Joshua Jones co-ordinated a writing project between Welsh and Vietnamese creatives. Through a series of workshops exploring personal definitions, histories and cultures of queerness, the differences of queer experiences in rural vs urban environments as well as considering the importance of queer communities and families, resulted in the publication of ‘Room/Ystafell/Phòng. The anthology of work from Maik Cây, Leo Drayton, Joshua Jones, Lauren Morais, Kai Nguyễn and Xuân Tùng celebrates the diversity of language, culture and experiences through a queer lens, but also what brings queers together.
4pm-6pm, Join Joshua in a creative writing workshop where participants will consider writing from their own queer perspectives. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced writer, or where you are on the LGBTQIA+ spectrum, please join us in celebrating identity through art.
6pm-8pm, After the workshop there will be an open mic where workshop participants will be welcome to share any work made within the workshop, as well as their own poems & stories.
Copies of Room/Ystafell/Phòng will be available to buy at the event.
