Postcards imagining the Borough of Lewisham in 2040
When people talk about the “Future of Lewisham,” the conversation is often led by adults, planners, and politicians. But too often, one vital voice is missing: young people.
This exhibition was developed in collaboration with the Young Lewisham Project and Riverside Youth Club, bringing together the ideas and voices of young people from across the borough.
Through a simple but powerful act, participants sent a postcard describing the future of Lewisham. They envisioned…What would Lewisham look like in 2040?What will it feel like to live here? What needs to change, and what must be protected?
Each postcard becomes a message across time: a personal vision of a borough shaped by the people who will inherit it.
These imagined futures are not just creative exercises. They are bold statements that show the future can be shaped with imagination, care, and collective hope.
The future is being written. This time, it starts with young people.
