British-Irish dual national and Lewisham resident Emma Warren has been documenting grassroots culture for decades. She is the author of Dance Your Way Home (Faber, 2023), which forms the basis of the Southbank Centre’s summer season 2025. Other publications include Make Some Space and Steam Down: Or How Things Begin, which told the story of the Deptford jazz jam. Her pamphlet, Document Your Culture, has become a cult read for renegade archivists worldwide. Hosting a radio show on WWFM for six years, she also has a background in youth work.

Emma’s Document Your Culture workshop focuses on empowering individuals and communities to document and share their cultural stories and traditions. The workshop aims to foster a sense of belonging and pride by encouraging participants to explore their cultural identities and heritage through various creative mediums and exploring different ways of preserving cultural knowledge and practices.
