We are excited to announce writers’ submissions are now open for the next Deptford Scratch: Global Majority Spotlight which will take place in October.

Our Scratch night in October gives Global Majority emerging artists the chance to develop new work in front of a live audience. Writers can hear their scripts performed by actors in a supportive, low-pressure environment, gaining valuable insight while their work is still in development.

What We Are Looking For

Global Majority writers, writing for Global Majority artists.

• Pieces of theatre with a maximum duration of 10 minutes.

• No more than 4 character.

• These can be self-contained or extracts of something you are working on.

• Unfortunately, we will not be able to give feedback but will let you know either way whether your piece has been selected.

•  If selected, we hold a pitch night attended by creatives from which you can cast your piece. Working this way has proven to encourage new connections within the industry.

• You will be expected to cast and either direct yourself, or, select a director from the attendees of the pitch night.

• We cannot accept submissions without a script but this does not need to be a final draft.

• Please note tech is very minimal so be aware of this.

• We do not wish to sensor the work but please keep in mind the audience will be 16+ so we will need to consider content warnings

• In submitting a piece you are agreeing that that is the piece of work you wish to share. If during the process you wish to change the piece being showcased or make significant changes to the scene this must be approved by the producer.
