Arachne press: Writing Stories, Making Senses
Arachne Press are celebrating their 10th birthday with a series of writing workshops in Lewisham Libraries, themed around ‘writing the body’. This session will focus on writing physical and sensory experiences.

Hello Stranger – The Trans Gaze: Installation launch event
Spaces & Places: The Trans Gaze is the new art installation at Deptford Lounge. Curated by multidisciplinary artist Anna Clock, the installation was made collaboratively over two workshops at our sister site, The Albany.
A chaired discussion centring the perspective of designers for live performance – what their creative concerns are, what they imagine for the industry, and what design-led work means. Free tickets to the event are available here.
“Open to all, aimed especially at the wider theatre industry – for example but not limited to producers, directors, performers, movement practitioners, production and stage managers – as well as anyone with an interest in design for live performance. The discussion will take place within the installation at Deptford Lounge.”
The launch event sees a panel of artists discussing the trans gaze and its place within wider theatre and arts / design industries.
Deptford Literature Festival
Deptford Literature Festival is on Saturday 18th of March. There are events happening all round Deptford, with the Lounge being one of the major hosts!
There are several events happening in the building, all of which are free to attend! Here are a couple that we’re most excited for, there’s loads more on their website:
All day you will be able to follow the Black History Walking Tour of Deptford, which starts at Deptford Lounge. Available as an audio guide, or written transcript with map, the tour will walk you through key locations, and link to historical figures that help us to understand the Black history of the area.
Poet/musician Joshua Idehen is bringing his new show All You Can Do Is Hum to the Lounge. “Exploring his own experiences of depression, isolation and a sense of not belonging, the show invites audiences to come together to ‘spin grief into joy’ through the power of words and music.”
