While 50% of the population will experience menopause in some form, the other 50% are also affected — whether as loved ones, colleagues, or friends. In the past five years, significant progress has been made in breaking the taboo surrounding menopause, thanks to high-profile women in the media, the introduction of workplace policies, and the recent statutory inclusion of menopause in the NHS Women’s Age 40 Health Check. Yet, at the community level, opportunities for open dialogue remain limited.
During previous exhibitions of Abigail Hammond’s work at libraries and health centres, invaluable engagement and conversation have taken place. This exhibition features a diverse range of artwork, from abstract pieces to written word — some intense, others bold and entertaining.
