Lewisham Libraries invites artists to explore the boundless realms of imagination for our sci-fi and fantasy season, Imagined Worlds.

What are your imagined worlds?

Fantasy realms • Dystopian futures • Utopian societies • Alien landscapes • Parallel dimensions • Dream states • Mythical kingdoms • Digital realities • Underwater cities • Sky worlds • Time-warped spaces • Memory places

 

We’re seeking original and thought-provoking art pieces in any media that:

Challenges conventional reality and pushes creative boundaries

Presents unique perspectives on alternate worlds and societies

Demonstrates personal artistic vision. Invites viewers to question, wonder, and imagine

Address social, environmental, or philosophical themes through a fantastical lens

Create dialogue about our relationship with reality and possibility

 

Any media welcome:

Traditional: Paintings, drawings, prints, sculptures, textiles

Digital: Digital paintings, 3D renders, interactive media, video art

Photography: Surreal compositions, manipulated imagery, alternative processes Mixed media: Collages, assemblages, hybrid techniques

Installation: Immersive environments, interactive experiences

Performance: Time-based work exploring imagined narratives

Experimental: Unconventional materials, new technologies, interdisciplinary approaches

Open Call Deadline: 30th September 2025

How to Apply:

Submit up to 3 works that explore the theme of imagined worlds.

For static works:

High-resolution images of artwork (JPEG, 300 dpi minimum)

Brief work descriptions with dimensions and materials

For video/performance/time-based works:

Video documentation (MP4 format, max 10 minutes per piece)

High-quality stills from the work (3-5 images)

Technical requirements for exhibition display

Performance duration and space requirements (if applicable)

All submissions must include:

Artist statement (200 words max)
