Meet Me at the Albany Exhibition

What happens if isolated older people attend their local arts centre, instead of a day centre?

As far as artist collectives go, Meet Me at the Albany is quite unusual. Made up of a group of over 60’s who meet weekly at the Albany, an arts centre in Deptford, members are just as likely to create poetry or music, or be suspended in the air in a circus workshop as to be drinking tea and knitting. In fact, the group rather sticks two knitting needles up at the stereotypes of elders; it’s radical, inclusive and experimental. This debut exhibition shares a flavour of the work that happens every week – from sculpture and craft to potting and painting.

Meet Me at the Albany is run in partnership by the Albany and Entelechy Arts with support from Lewisham Council.
