Deptford Creek – Photographs 2014-17
Wednesday 31st May – Saturday 17th June
Bill Green started this project when he was commissioned to photograph The River Ravensbourne from Deptford to Ladywell for the European River Corridor Improvement Plan (ERCIP) in Spring 2014. The emphasis of this plan is the re-naturalisation of often forgotten urban rivers. He later became very fond of the images he had taken of Deptford Creek and has continued to photograph this scenery, there are photographs taken between 2014 – 2017 featured here.
His work is about riverscapes, it is the combination of the sky, architecture and the reflected light that draws him to this subject, along with Deptford Creek he photographs The Thames and Docklands and has been doing so since 1999. His aim is to create dynamic images capturing the mixture of architecture, industry, boats and their refractions in the water and to record the rapid transitions taking place in this landscape.
